"I followed my heart to Yoga & found my piece in the universal puzzle."
What I love most about yoga is...Yoga has taught me to set boundaries and to take care of myself first. When I feel strong and healthy it makes it so much easier to be present for others.
My favorite pose is...Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge).
On a Friday night you'll find me...in the kitchen, trying out a new recipe from Yoga Journal.
My personal mantra is...May Durga keep me and Lakshmi grant me…
Best guilty pleasure – red wine and pizza!
I bet you didn't know...It took me over a year to develop my meditation practice after becoming a teacher.
I long to....stay content with as little as possible.
“She is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature." ~ Socrates

MORE ABOUT MELISSA
Melissa found yoga in 2001 while struggling with her career path and seeking her true passion. She felt a deep connection to yoga and the transition was clear..."There was a homelessness inside me that I couldn't quite describe, but when I found yoga, I finally came home to myself."
Melissa received her certification in 2011 under the direction of Jan Hauenstein and currently studies with Rod Stryker and Aimee Senise-Conners. Additional teachers who support her growth are Elena Brower, Desiree Rumbaugh, Raghunath and Eoin Finn.
The opportunity to own Beyond Center for Yoga presented itself when she moved back to the area in 2012 and she has immersed herself in study ever since, but it just goes to show that when you follow your heart, the world opens itself to you! “After living in different cities for almost 15 years, I have never been happier living back home in Brockport.”
