What I love most about yoga is...that it offers me what I need every time I practice. Yoga has challenged me physically, mentally & emotionally, taught me to come to terms with stress and anxiety & allowed me to learn to be present in my life here and now. Most of all, yoga has opened my heart to love, compassion, and connection.
My favorite pose – Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Bound Angle).
On a Friday night you'll find me...Snuggling with my family watching a movie or playing board games.
My personal mantra – Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all).
Best guilty pleasure – Going out to eat! I love finding creative offerings and enjoying time with family and friends.
I bet you didn't know...when I was a little girl my nickname was “the little brown mouse” because I never spoke (and was always tan). I was painfully shy. One time I stood at an ice cream stand for 25 minutes letting everyone go ahead of me because I was afraid to speak up! It has taken years to find my voice and the confidence to speak.
I long to...travel (a lot) and never stop discovering along the way!
WHY MELANIE'S CLASSES?
Melanie came to yoga after the birth of her first child. In search of a healthier body and she soon found not only a healthier body, but also a relaxed mental and emotional state. She has maintained a steady yoga practice for herself and her family and her contagious energy and imagination fill her classes with a joyous sense of self discovery and laughter. Through her teachings Melanie strives to promote compassion and well-being for all.

Melanie is a Registered Yoga Teacher under the direction of Francois Raoult in the Iyengar Tradition and also a "Radiant Child" Certified Children's Yoga Teacher under the direction of Shakta Khalsa, E-RYT500. Her studies include: Ayurveda with Sonam Targee and Dr. Robert Svoboda, Yoga history & philosophy with Douglas Brooks, PhD., and anatomy with Laura Allard, RIYT. Melanie is also a certified Level III Reiki Master through Natural Healing under the direction of Julie Chapus, MSW.
