What I love most about yoga is...it's ability to remind me to be intentional and present, everyday. My practice has helped me create a sweet sense of awareness that I might otherwise overlook in my daily life. Above all else, it has helped me continue to cultivate my deepest desire - to love others well.
My favorite pose is...Viparita Karani (legs up the wall).
On a Friday night you'll find me...either cooking a new recipe or going on an adventure with friends - anything from exploring a new place to trying a different restaurant...yes, I'm a foodie.
My personal mantra is..."Nothing ventured, nothing gained." & "A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor."
Best guilty pleasure – Reese's cups...and I don't even feel guilty about it!
I bet you didn't know...I've always struggled with having confidence in myself, but several people spoke truth into my life that changed my mindset and shifted my perspective. One was my teacher during my yoga training stopped me in the middle of teaching my first class of 40 people and asked me what was blocking me. "Fear," I responded. She replied, "So what do you need?" I quietly answered, "Courage." Then she told me to continue teaching the class, but this time to say the word "Courage" after I called out each pose. And I did.
...I think it will forever be one of the best classes I ever taught. Today I define myself as courageous and confident.
I long to....Live outside my comfort zone. Never let fear become an excuse. Let go of expectations, what others think of me and any self-doubt.
WHY BETHANY'S CLASSES?
Bethany's classes reflect her desire to offer practical tools through mind-body awareness to any student who enters her class. She often reminds her students that it's not about a 'perfect pose,' but rather noticing the sensations in your own body and recognizing what you need to take away from your practice each day. Bethany enjoys teaching several variations including Gentle Flow, Restorative and Power Vinyasa.
MORE ABOUT BETHANY
Desiring to spread the benefits of yoga to those around her, Bethany completed her Yoga Alliance accredited Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hour course through the local Breathe studios in Rochester, NY. She studied Power Yoga with Bryan Kest and trained in Baptiste style Vinyasa Yoga with Baron Baptiste.
Although she loves her role as a teacher, Bethany is a student of her practice and plans to further her education and training to continually improve what she can provide in her classes. She's thankful for her yoga community, friends, and family as they have faithfully supported and inspired growth throughout her years of practice.
